Warrington Wolves 2022 New Era commences

As we look ahead to another season of Warrington's 146 year history, there's a few things that we need to look out for in the coming weeks with the Wales camp and the friendlies between Wigan Warriors and Salford Red Devils which will both be class games. The wire boys usually go off to Tenerife under Steve Price for the warm sunshine in Spain and to train there for two weeks but Daryl Powell has different ideas with going to South Wales and completing an army camp which is brilliant to get their cardio up for this upcoming season. Wire fans often at this time are very optimistic saying "It's always our year" or "We're actually going to do it this year" as a wire fan myself I'm guilty of it  but optimism will soon get you what you want and no I'm not saying we will do it this year but we will run really close to that golden prize come Saturday the 24th in September.

It's a season of change for the club this year as we look ahead to a new era of Warrington and it's under the reign of Daryl Powell. Powell, from coaching his boyhood club for eight years has decided to travel over the Pennines to the wire for the 2022 season till at least 2025. His coaching philosophy and brand of rugby appealed to Warrington Chairman Stuart Middleton and says that his ability to improve players young and old is what Stuart and his board was completely satisfied with. Powell's eight years in charge with the Castleford Tigers, he got them to three finals in 2014,2017 and 2021 but failed to win any, he won the League Leaders Shield with them after comfortably winning the league by ten points and won twenty games and only lost three. Wire fans should be very happy with this going into the new season and them wishing to make history.

Powell also brings in two players from his Cas reign with England international Oliver Holmes coming over after his eleven year spell at the club and Samoan international Peter Mata'utia coming down with Powell. Powell will also be reunited with back 'Greg Minikin' coming from East Hull which is Hull KR. Minikin, has spent two years at Hull KR scoring Ten tries in 24 games for the red and whites but ended his time at Hull KR with an ACL injury vs Castleford Tigers back in September of last year. Wire also have additions of 6ft 4 James Harrison from Fev who recently won the 1895 trophy at Featherstone Rovers with also Joe Bullock coming from Wigan with the addition of Greek international, Billy Magoulias. Billy is only 24 and he is coming from Cronulla Sharks wanting to make a impact from the start as a ball-playing Loose forward, so lots to be excited for if you're a wire fan.

Predictions and must from a fans point of view is growing the structure of the club. Once you have nailed that, the trophies will start coming thick and fast for the wire. Warrington’s first five games are probably testified to see where Warrington will come around September time. Warrington, have Leeds away first game on the new Channel 4 deal for the 2022 season. Their  first home game of the season will be taking on Powell's former team, Castleford Tigers. Then a trip to newly promoted Toulouse who are looking a strong outfit for the upcoming season. The next two after that is the hardest of the lot when facing Catalan Dragons at home then playing St Helens away so as far as the first five games go, they are really tricky under Powell's reign as wire coach but it will be a good way to start if they could win the vast majority of the games.
