Warrington vs Wakefield preview

Warrington are set to play against a weakened Wakefield outfit in round six of the 2022 Super League season. Warrington are coming into this game from a 28-2 defeat on Friday night in the hands of three-peat champions St Helens, with Wakefield coming from a massive victory vs newly promoted side Toulouse Olympique on Friday Night to kick start their 2022 season. Warrington were victorious in their opening three fixtures against Leeds, Castleford and Toulouse, for it to go back to square one as they took their foot off the gas in their next two games resulting in defeats against Catalan Dragons and St Helens. Wakefield on the other hand are coming into this game on channel 4 with only the one win against Toulouse and four defeats, however they have looked really dominated in their  losses against Catalan, St Helens, Leeds and Hull FC. They are arguable the best team to play against Saints so far this year with only getting beat by 16 points against the reigning champions.

Warrington will come into this game with absentees of Josh Charnley still serving his ban, Robbie Mulhern following the concussion protocols and Joe Bullock being left out of the side. However, possibly the wire fans will be able to finally see new signing Billy Magoulias after him being sidelined since he joined the club from Cronulla hoping to bring that play movement across from his time over in the NRL, The Greek international made 16 appearances for NRL side Cronulla Sharks with winning five games and 11 losses.   Wakefield on the other-hand will be without three notable absentees of ex-Warrington winger Tom Lineham, Bill Tupou and Max Jowitt. Jacob Miller also returns to the fold after being out of last weeks 18-6 win over 12th place Toulouse Olympique due to the new concussion protocols in place.

On the other-hand, the player to look out for in the Wakefield team is world class winger, Tom Johnstone. Johnstone, has had a hard time so far in his career with the amount of injuries he has picked up, but that is not getting the 26 year old spirts damper as he sets his eyes are completing a full-season and getting Wakefield back up in that league table with them finishing the bottom two the last couple of seasons.
